Built in 1921, the Martindale Schoolhouse is an official Texas Historical Landmark. The feeling of being inside a 100 year-old school building will transport you back in time to experience what a rural school was like during the roaring 20's.

The Martindale Schoolhouse is centrally located between Austin and San Antonio and is perfect for weddings, special events, weekend getaways, and outdoor excursions. First, there's the expansive five-room villa that was once the original school. Carefully curated with eclectic art from around the world, the schoolhouse sleeps 14 and is fully modernized with a large kitchen, multiple seating areas, a great lawn and a covered veranda with an outdoor fireplace.

Next, there's the Martindale Social Hall. Perfect for wedding receptions, dances, corporate outings, you name it... all hosted under the sky and stars within the walls of the original school gymnasium. To top it off, the crystal clear San Marcos River is a short walk away for swimming, fishing, kayaking, and joyous lollygagging. Martindale Schoolhouse...your hall pass from the ordinary.

Weddings

Hosting your wedding at the Martindale Schoolhouse will be a memory to last a lifetime. We offer several packages based on your vision and budget. You can rent the property with or without lodging (sleeps 14 guests). You can choose to rent the space just for the day (10 hours), with one night lodging, or the full weekend package with two nights lodging - Friday through Sunday. You'll have quality time to spend with your family and friends without the stress of rushing to set up and break down with time to decorate, host a rehearsal dinner, have brunch in the courtyard or just hang out and relax.

You'll also have access to the Schoolhouse, extensive grounds and the Martindale Social Hall, a 4,000 square foot open-air gymnasium, complete with tables, chairs, bar, restrooms, and a stage for DJ's or live music. Accommodates up to 175 guests. For overnight stays, the Schoolhouse can accommodate up to 14 guests. LGBTQIA friendly! Contact us for booking.

Special Events

Flexibility is our strong suit. We pride ourselves on being creative and accommodating. If you can dream it, we'll make it happen. Perfect for corporate meetings, live music, yoga retreats, cooking classes, family reunions, quinceanera's or almost anything you can think of. Catering, photography and floral services available. Accommodations

An official Texas Historical Landmark built in 1921, the Martindale Schoolhouse is a truly unique experience. With original architectural details, eclectic décor and carefully curated art from around the world, you'll be transported to another time and place. Across the street from the San Marcos river, it's perfect for family reunions or large groups looking for luxury accommodations in the quaint town of Martindale, Texas.

Vacation in style with a fully-stocked kitchen, comfy beds, white cotton linens and private patios. With five bedrooms and four bathrooms, the villa sleeps 14 and has extensive grounds with a great lawn, private courtyard, covered veranda and plenty of space for your whole group to spread out. We book all overnight accommodations exclusively through Airbnb. The Martindale Social Hall, weddings and events are booked separately and require extra fees. Book accommodations.

Area Attractions

San Marcos River

Swim, fish, canoe or kayak year-round on a pristine, spring-fed river that stays a constant 72 degrees. We also offer guided fishing and kayak trips to safely navigate rapids and discover the best spots to cast your line.

Gateway to the Hill Country

The Martindale Schoolhouse is a great launching pad for day trips. Centrally located between Austin and San Antonio, it's close to dozens of popular towns including Lockhart, San Marcos, Gruene, New Braunfels, Driftwood, Wimberley, and Canyon Lake.

Home Away from Home

The perfect place for home base when attending local events, especially when you need to stay overnight. Minutes to Texas State university, SXSW, ACL, F1 Circuit of the Americas, and the Texas Water Safari.

I cannot say enough good things about Martindale Schoolhouse, it is truly a magical venue! Craig and Wendi were phenomenal hosts and went above and beyond to make our day extra special. We absolutely loved the relaxed and vintage vibe of the space, and our VIP guests loved staying at the Schoolhouse before and after the big celebration. It was truly a weekend we'll remember for a lifetime.

The venue is an absolute dream and Wendi and Craig are amazing. It rained during our wedding and they went above and beyond to ensure that we still had the wedding of our dreams.
